The coming together of African Bloggers which took place in SRH Hochschule Berlin on the 2nd Novemeber, 2018 was indeed a great success. It is the First African Blogger’s convention ever held and the topic of the convention centered on “Our Image, Our Voice, Our Story”.
Samson Itodo, the organizer of the event and publisher of afrobizgermany, kick started the program by emphasing the importance of preserving our Image through the media by the pictures and stories we tell about African countries.
H.E Mr. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Ambassador of Nigeria to Germany was the keynote speaker. He charged the bloggers with the duty of dispersing valuable and important information based on our different areas of specialization, and to inform people with the right message about different African countries which we represent with good ‘packaging’.
Chinelo Ntagu an Enterprenuer and publisher of Ogalady Blog gave a workshop on “The Effect of Blogging in the Afro-community”. Her blog dwells on innovation and creativity of the young African with focus on business and health matters.
Chinelo emphasized the need to use our various blogs to curb the danger of the one-sided story on Africa countries by presenting to the world different aspect of who we really are.
Moses Acquah, the CEO of Afrolynk moderated the event which was attended by various bloggers around the globe, with the majority from Germany.
In addition, Tony Tokunbo Fernandez the Founder of Africa4U and the organiser of Black History Month from the United Kingdom, Steve Odhiambo the CEO of ukowapi, Grace Evaly the founder Nollywood Germany e.V., Nze Fanny founder of Face Beat Boulevard (make up specialist), Elvis Fuamba the founder of Afrofinns in Finnland, Binta Fatty, an Activist against Child marriage and Founder of MaMaTidaStyle, Raf Awolola CEO of Raff Promotion, Magda Tedla the founder of Magda’s Food Programme and a host of other wonderful guests were in attendance.
The event also featured a panel discussion on “Our Image, Our Voice, Our Story” which was moderated by Sannssi Cisse with Carol Kay African Heritage, Femi Awoniyi The AFrican Courier, Yonas Endrias Afrika Akademie Volkshochschule and Christopher Obayuwana Eyes of Africa.
Maame A.D Amoo African Mummy in Deutschland, summarized the theme of the event in the video below by saying, we have to appreciate ourselves first and we do not need the approval of anyone to do that.
